Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of ground beef
  • 3 cloves of fresh garlic finely minced
  • 1 large onion finely chopped
  • 2 cans 14 oz each of diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can 14 oz of tomato sauce
  • 1 can 14 oz of kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 can 14 oz of pinto beans, undrained
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tablespoons of chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Method

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a large pot, place the ground beef. Cook over medium-high heat until the beef turns brown. Make sure to break the beef into small crumbles as it cooks. Once cooked, drain the excess fat.
  2. Saute the Aromatics: In the same pot, add chopped onions and minced garlic. Continue to sauté these until they turn translucent and release their flavors.
  3. Blend the Ingredients: Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, kidney beans, pinto beans (with liquid), and water to the pot. Stir these ingredients, ensuring they mix evenly.
  4. Add the Spices: Time to add all the spices: chili powder, black pepper, ground cumin, sugar, paprika, and salt. Make sure to thoroughly stir this mixture to distribute the spices evenly throughout the pot.
  5. Simmer the chili: Lower the heat to a simmer and let your chili pot sit for about 2 hours. This process allows the flavors to meld together and the chili to thicken.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: After simmering, your Wendy's chili is ready to be served. Portion it into bowls and serve hot. You can also top it with shredded cheddar cheese or sour cream for an added flavor kick.
