Prep Time 2 hours
Cook Time 25 minutes
Servings: 2
Course: Breakfast, Dessert

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 ¼ tbsp Active instant yeast
  • cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted butter, softened
  • cup coconut milk

Method

  1. Mixing the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
Create a well in the middle of the dry ingredients, and pour in the warm water, coconut milk, and softened butter.
Using a wooden spoon, mix until the dough begins to come together. If the dough is too dry, add a little more warm water.
Once the dough is too stiff to mix with a spoon, it's time to move on to the next step.
  2. Kneading the Dough
Lightly flour a clean surface. Turn the dough out onto the floured surface.
Knead for about 10 minutes, adding flour as necessary, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
To test if your bread is ready, do the windowpane test. Gently stretch the dough apart. If you can look through the dough without it tearing, it's ready!
  3. Proofing the Dough
Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl.
Cover with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise until doubled in size, about 1 to 1.5 hours
  4. Shaping the Bread
After the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air.
Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a prepared 9x5-inch loaf pan.
Cover the dough with a kitchen towel and let it rise again for 45 minutes to an hour or until doubled.
  5. Baking the Bread
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Once the dough has doubled, place the loaf pan into the preheated oven.
Bake for twenty to thirty minutes, or until the top is hollow when tapped and has a golden brown color.
Remove the bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the loaf to a wire rack to cool completely.
